This is a charming villa on the edge of a typical Mediterranean wine producing village en route to the land of Cathar Castles.

A young wine grower and his charming wife have built an ensemble of four villas, each with its own pool, on the edge of a Corbiere village. (see Ref: A1b, c and d).

While there is shared parking, each villa has complete privacy and is not overlooked by its neighbours.

This villa is built on one level - it is spacious, well equipped and comfortably furnished. Glass doors lead out onto a pool side terrace and to a marvelous Santa Fe style covered terrace/summer kitchen with huge wooden beams that Mr. Riviere salvaged from an old barn. He is also an artist so all the colours used on the inside and outside capture the warmth of the Mediterranean sun - mustard ochres, honey yellows and earthy terracottas contrast beautifully with the blue of the water.

Clients' comments:

Just wanted to let you know that we had a really lovely week last week at Les Cigalous! Thanks. Jane, September 2007

Just wanted to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Monseret. The premises are as described and very generous in space, especially outdoors, with the wonderful barbecue and seating area, lounge chairs and above all, the pool. Our grandchildren seemed to spend all their waking hours soaking wet and grinning! My husband couldn't stop talking about the privacy and quiet, the sense of being entirely within your own private compound with high wall and clever plantings. It is a unique property and arrangement, and we would be enthusiastic about going back another time. The owners offer exceptional hospitality and were warm and available and very helpful throughout. Altogether, a great success! Thanks for your extensive help and correspondence on the way to rental.

This lovely villa is situated in Montseret, a typical Mediterranean wine-producing village in the Corbieres. The owners have vineyards and the local Cave Cooperative is just around the corner.

There is a small grocer's shop in the village and in St Andre de Roquelongue which is only 3 km away there are village shops, a pharmacy, café and public tennis courts.

The landscape around the village is stunningly beautiful ; nearby are the medieval Cathar castles; majestic ruins rising above precipitous summits.

The Mediterranean beaches (Gruissan, Narbonne and Leucate plages) are all within 25-40 kms, and the Pyrennees mountains and the Spanish border are only an hour's drive away (The Salvador Dali museum in Figueres is just over the border).

Abbey de Fontfroide 10 km.

Narbonne 18kms - a lively town, Canal du Robine running though the centre, great shops and a market, fantastic Cathedral and remants of the "Via Domitia" (Roman road).

Beziers 48 km. Major market town, noted for its bull-fight 'Feria' in August.
