Enjoy the real South of France at this unique holiday accommodation with private park situated on a working vineyard, once the home of a Baron - one of Napoleon’s celebrated generals. Surrounded by 175 acres of vineyards and only 10-15 minutes from Pézenas and beaches this luxury property is perfect for wine lovers, large families and groups. 

All over the house you will find antique French tiled floors and chandeliers, together with modern comforts and stylish contemporary touches. Of note is the stunning 60m2 main salon with its huge fireplace and grand piano. There is a cinema room, kitchen with all modern appliances, library, dining room and second sitting room with fireplace.

This property offers an idyllic location to relax and chill out and the perfect base from which to explore everything this part of the South of France has to offer.

Accommodation Details

This charming South of France Holiday Domaine has the perfect mix of luxury and history - sleeps 12

The beautiful manor house comprises a Bastide, built in 1780 and an Art Deco wing added in 1934, both of which have been recently renovated. There are 6 en suite boutique hotel style bedrooms, each furnished to a high standard of comfort with luxurious facilities.

The Bastide (historic manor house) – encompasses sitting room, dining, kitchen, cinema room, library, master bedroom, 2 further bedrooms and an independent cloakroom with wc.

The Bastide Ground Floor - air conditioning in the kitchen

An antique door opens into to the renovated bastide where you will find a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and air-conditioning, a breakfast/dining room (seating 12-14) with access and view to the park and pool, sitting room with fireplace, cinema room with a selection of classic and current films and a large state-of-the-art cinema screen with full surround-sound and a downstairs cloakroom.

The Bastide Upper Level - 3 bedrooms with air conditioning

The upper level of the Bastide still breathes the atmosphere of 1817, when the Baron - a famous general in Napoleon's army - lived here. With French antique tiled floors, antique furniture and chandeliers.

It comprises 3 bedrooms - a large master bedroom of 40m2 and 2 further doubles all with air-conditioning and en suite Villeroy & Boch bathrooms. All have a rain showers, hand basins and wc. Two of the bathrooms also have a bath. The wonderfully comfortable beds in the rooms (all doubles) are complemented by luxury down duvets and white percale bed linen. All rooms have a view on the park.

A well-stocked library with French and English books, magazines and games completes the upper floor of the Bastide.

The Art Deco Wing - 3 bedrooms with air conditioning

The Art Deco wing is integrated with the property and accessed through the cinema room and library. It comprises a grand salon (sitting room 60m2), master bedroom and 2 further bedrooms.

The impressive hallway of this wonderful wing is in art deco style with a beautiful staircase and offers access to the stunning air-conditioned 60m2 grand salon sitting room with French tiles, modern furniture, a grand piano and a huge fireplace. The glass doors on 2 sides of the room give access to the pool and park side with terraces, the rose garden and a covered terrace.

On the other side of the hall you will find an air-conditioned bedroom (two single or one king-size bed 180x200) with view on the rose garden, en suite wet room with open rain shower, hand basin and wc. The room has a walk-in closet.

The upper level has 2 spacious air-conditioned bedrooms. The master bedroom is stylishly decorated in a contemporary-baroque style and has a large balcony overlooking the pool and park. Attached to the bedroom is a large en suite bathroom with free standing bath, rain shower, wc and hand basin. The spacious bedroom has a double bed, chaise longue, bureau and a lot of wardrobe space. The second bedroom room can be configured as 2 single or one king-sized bed with beautiful French art deco tiles and has a small en-suite bathroom with shower, wc and hand basin. Also from this level you have direct access to the Bastide. 

3rd Wing

There is the possibility of a 7th bedroom and/or a 2 bedroom apartment, on prior request and subject to availability. These are in the third wing of the building, which is a separate part of the house and is normally locked. It is more suited to 'staff' like a nanny or an au pair. The 7th bedroom can be configured with a double or two single beds, has a large en suite bathroom and is air conditioned. The 2 bedroom apartment, also air conditioned, can sleep 4, (one king size bed and one queen) and has a shared shower room with independant wc.  Both options are only available on request and a supplementary charge applies. Please ask for details. 

Throughout the house there is much historical art and collections related to the famous Baron who owned the Domaine in the 19th century, art deco items and contemporary art.

This is a no smoking property.

All year there is a guardian on site.

Outside Details

South of France Holiday Manor House in extensive grounds

The house is set in a beautiful private park of 20,000m2 – originally laid out in 1817. There are several terraces and seating areas each with a different aspect – to either catch the sun or the shade as you wish.

The 11m x 5m infinity pool can be heated in May and September when necessary and has Roman steps on two sides for easy access and is graduated. Surrounding the pool are sun loungers and a relaxing contemporary sofa set – perfect for an apero before dinner.

From late spring to early autumn meals are generally most enjoyable taken outside. Several wooden table and chair configurations are provided including integrated and separate parasols. 

A gas BBQ/Plancha is also provided for the full alfresco experience.

Around the house, rose garden and the pool the garden is maintained by the on-site guardian. The remainder of the large park is more wild – perfect for walks in the shade of 200-year-old trees or exploring and having fun with the kids. A full size private petanque court borders the edge of the park.

Beyond the park lies 175 acres of vineyard and agricultural land to explore, including our own marked walk through our vines and woodland that also connects to other neighbouring vineyards. Three areas of woodland complete the property.

There is ample private parking.

At the Domaine you can also visit the wine shop, vineyard and winery. The perfect way to learn all about wine-making.

South of France Holiday property in a great location

Montagnac is the closest - apprx 5 minutes by car - a typical Languedoc wine producing village, with fresh local produce, small supermarket, typical rural French bars and restaurants and a Friday market

Pezenas apprx 7km
A town with lots of history and culture, numerous boutiques, artisan's workshops, antiques, cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a big Saturday market. July and August don't miss the Estivale on Friday evenings where you can taste local wines, eat street food and enjoy some music.

Meze apprx 12km and Bouzigues - apprx 17km - for an array of local Seafood - Oysters, Mussels, Razor Clams, Sea Urchins and Ferme Marine in Marseillan for an all you can eat seafood extravaganza.

Sete apprx 30km - a lively Mediterranean fishing port with restaurants lining the harbour serving the catch of the day, shops, boutiques, boat trips and Summer Jousting tournaments on the central canal.

St Guilhem-le-Desert apprx 45km - a Medieval Knights Templar village and a UNESCO site.

Montpellier - apprx 48km - galleries, shopping, eating, history, culture, Place de la Comedie, definitely worth a visit and easy to do with the park and ride tram system.

Carcassonne apprx 116km - La Cité is a UNESCO site - a must visit!
