The first writings on this pretty village in the Minervois date back to 955 AD. In 1217 it became a Roman Fortress or Castrum and in the 17th century, the village grew, with its church becoming larger. The local Chateau at Ginestas Château du Puits es Pratx, is often used for weddings and also has a restaurant.

Today Le Somail is well worth a visit, very pretty with canal side restaurants - walkable - 20 minutes through the vineyards or 5 minutes' drive

We have had the most wonderful 2 weeks staying in this beautiful converted old stone barn house, in the heart of Ginestas. There was nothing that we couldn’t find within the house to make it truly feel like a home away from home. The living area was extremely spacious, we never felt like we were on top of each other in the house. The courtyard is completely private and the sun shines in it throughout the day. We have three children aged 12, 11 & 7 and they spent the majority of the time having so much fun in the pool.  We were staying there while there was an extreme heatwave of about 45 degrees for 3-4 days so the pool was a relief, but inside the house was lovely and cool too, if you wanted it to be. Jess, who was our point of contact, would reply within minutes if ever we needed any advice about places to visit etc. We spent many evenings eating outside, making use of the outdoor mini kitchen area in the courtyard. The village itself is a truly charming traditional French Languedoc village, with a lovely community feel to it.  There are a few places to eat and we enjoyed each of them.  Le Table du Casino was probably our favourite, the kids had shuffleboard and a few other games in there to keep them happy which meant the adults were also happy!   We were sad to be leaving the other day, but can definitely see us returning again next year.  A great find! Thank you, The Talavera family, South France Villas Client August 2023
Absolutely beautiful week! Your property is gorgeous and we all had the best time. Ginestas is lovely and we loved the local area. Frequent visits to La Casino Table and L’Oncle Jules were the icing on the cake! We will definitely book with you again. Merci beaucoup!Hannah and Family, South France Villas client May 2023.
We had fantastic holidays. The house was great and ideal for us 2 families, everyone had here found his relaxation, fun, .... Also with the Canal-de-Midi, the proximity to the sea, but also the necessary distance in these Corona times was perfect. We will gladly leave a very positive review/recommendation.Raif and friends, July 2020
Great service at all stages of the process. Everything professionally managed and communicated. Villa was just as described and fully met our expectations - it was lovely. First time I have dealt with South France Villas - will happily do so again. Mr E , South France Villas Client September 2019
We've been meaning to drop you a line about the holiday. It was absolutely perfect in every way. The house was beautiful and so relaxing, it had everything that we needed and more! The village was charming and friendly and the surrounding area was lovely. Hopefully we can return there one day.  Thanks for returning the deposit, which I can confirm has been safely received. Once again thanks for enabling us to have such a memorable family holiday. Mr  L, South France Villas Client September 2019
A great break in a lovely villa. Great property with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and plenty of space to spread out, inside and outside. Special thanks to Jess for her helping out with printing out our problem boarding pass! August 2018
